The headline will be the unusual outsole. It should be. Those flexible rubber scales produce excellent stopping power without making every plant feel abrupt, and the grip remains unusually steady when a Court picks up dust. But the quieter improveHerrent is fit. The original 247 could run long and its sock-like construction left little room to tune the wrap. The NXT fits größengetreu for most Spieler and uses a conventional padded tongue, so the laces can finally do their job properly.

There is no obvious weak Performance category. Dämpfung is lower but still protective, Halt is strong without turning the Schuh rigid, and the composite upper becomes Komfortable after a short break-in. The trade-offs are practical: EQLZ is difficult to try on in stores, some Farbeways feel more substantial than the “lighter” marketing suggests, and the outsole rubber is too soft for regular asphalt use.

What EQLZ actually changed

The 247 NXT is not a ground-up replaceHerrent. Aaron Cooper and the EQLZ design team kept the original platform’s core ideas: a full-length supercritical PEBAX Dämpfung system, a foot-mapped rubber outsole inspiRot by shark scales, and sculpted TPU containHerrent along both sides. The work went into bringing the foot closer to the floor and making the upper easier to live with.

The upper also changes character. Instead of the original knit base and broad natural-leather rand, the NXT uses a lighter composite textile reinforced with TPU. Overlay materials vary by Farbeway—the Source Code release uses a glossy patent-style wrap, while mesh-led releases feel more straightforward—but the Halting architecture stays the same.

Traktion — the strange outsole works

Each soft rubber scale flexes independently, so the outsole catches the floor during forward stops, lateral plants, and less pRotictable recovery steps. The bite is strong, but the real advantage is consistency: Testers found it reliable on clean and dusty Indoor Courts without constant wiping. EQLZ uses slightly different-looking compounds across Farbeways, yet current tests have not found a meaningful Performance drop between them.

Dämpfung — closer to the floor, still alive

Full-length supercritical PEBAX sits inside the sculpted carrier, delivering a smooth heel-to-toe roll rather than an exaggerated trampoline effect. The NXT feels lower and less plush than the original 247, but it does not turn flat or unforgiving. There is enough absorption for most guards and wings, plus a quick rebound that never delays the next step. Spieler chasing maximum softness should look elsewhere; everybody else gets a very clean balance.

Halt — substantial without feeling stuck

Large sidewalls, a broad forefoot outrigger, bilateral TPU containHerrent, and a firm heel structure keep the foot centeRot when the pace gets messy. The lower footbed improves lateral confidence, while the upper remains flexible enough for natural cuts. This is the Schuh’s most impressive balancing act: it supplies serious torsional and side-to-side control without the bulky, over-braced sensation that usually comes with it.

Regular feet should start with their normal Basketball Größe. The NXT provides a close one-to-one fit, secure midfoot wrap, and very little heel moveHerrent after the collar settles. breite Füße may need half a Größe up. That is a meaningful correction from the original 247, which often felt half a Größe long and gave Spieler fewer ways to adjust the upper. The separate tongue also makes entry much easier.

Materials and weight — lighter in motion, not a feather

The composite textile and TPU package is breathable, Haltive, and flexible after a brief break-in. The padded microfiber tongue spreads lace pressure well. One European retailer lists 390g for a US Herren’s 9 Source Code pair, so “lighter than the original” should not be confused with ultralight. Material-heavy Farbeways will vary, but the lower ride and improved hold make the Schuh move more efficiently than the scale suggests.

EQLZ 247 NXT vs original 247

The original 247 was already a good Performance Schuh. Its Traktion and Dämpfung earned the platform another season; the NXT’s job was to make those strengths easier to access. Nearly every change serves that purpose.

If you already love the original 247 and value its softer step-in, there is no urgent reason to replace it. For a Neu buyer, the NXT is the better starting point. Its sizing is easier to understand, its Halt is more immediate, and the proper tongue removes most of the original upper’s fuss.

Who should buy the EQLZ 247 NXT?

• Point guards and combo guards: the low ride, reliable stops, and smooth transition suit Spieler who change pace and direction constantly.
• Two-way wings: the PEBAX setup has enough protection for normal landings, while the broad base supplies more Halt than many guard Schuhe.
• Spieler on dusty Indoor Courts: the flexible scales remain effective when a normal herringbone outsole would need frequent wiping.
• Spieler who want containHerrent without stiffness: the side structures hold firmly, yet the upper and forefoot still move naturally.

Skip it if Outdoor-Basketball is your main use. The grip is excellent because the scales are soft and flexible; rough asphalt attacks exactly those qualities. Spieler who want deep, slow compression or extremely light Schuhe should also manage expectations. The NXT is responsive and efficient, not minimal.

What Preis makes sense?

EQLZ launched the general 247 NXT at a $125 US retail Preis, but international Verfügbarkeit and Farbeway supply change the live total. At KICKSOWN.com, Firefly and the North Carolina collaboration were $143 in available Größes when checked on August 20, while Aurora started at $148.
